Gathered around a volleyball court built on Memorial Stadium, 92,003 fans cheered as the Husker Volleyball team broke the world record for the most attended women’s sporting event in history. But the story doesn’t start there, ahead of the game adidas partnered with the University of Nebraska to bring volleyball and Husker fans back to where Nebraska volleyball got its start - the iconic Nebraska Coliseum.
The Challenge
Strengthen the connection between adidas and Husker Fandom through a moment of disruption around Volleyball Day in Nebraska.
Inspire different generations of Husker fans to come together to celebrate the team and the moment.
Concepts should include some kind of physical activation that ties adidas to Husker volleyball fans.
The Way In
As electrifying as the games can be, Husker volleyball lacks a pregame tradition or rituals.
Steps away from Memorial Stadium, the Coliseum was the original home to Nebraska Volleyball. In that spirit, adidas invited long-time Husker fans and new fans back to where it all began in order to celebrate this record-breaking moment.
“The entire day (especially those attendance numbers) exceeded the brand's goals.” - Jeanne Schneider, director of NCAA sports marketing at Adidas
